Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide aid to refugees at home and abroad. No politics, simply humanitarian.

About This Cause

LHI provides aid to refugees both at home and abroad. We respond rapidly to forced migration situations by listening to what refugees are asking for and acting to fill those needs. Our goal is to help refugees be more self-sufficient throughout every aspect of their journey. From crisis to limbo to stability, LHI CARES (Community Advancement through Empowerment and Support). LHI has identified through our work that LHI has identified through our work that material aid, emotional healing through community, and education are three primary aspects of needed assistance for refugees. By directly learning from those in need, LHI can efficiently and effectively provide various short-term assistance and long-term solutions. While these solutions differ drastically based on need, the core is helping refugees achieve self-sufficiency, shedding the refugee label, and building a brighter future. Around the world, a record number (120 million) of people are forcibly displaced. We directly support refugees on their journey to self-sufficiency. Through our Animal Tracks program, which distributes livestock in Jordan and Uganda, we have successfully provided over 5,000 goats. Families use the livestock to earn additional income and pay for schooling, medicine, food, or improved housing. Livestock is a proven tool to provide refugee families with financial stability, self-sufficiency, and economic mobility. In Greece, we have supported over 11,150 refugees at our Community Center while they live in limbo in refugee camps. The participants at our Community Center learn new skills, explore their talents, and feel a sense of purpose and dignity. We provide essential material assistance and enhance their well-being through language classes and trauma-informed yoga, equipping them for resettlement. In Ukraine, we have helped over 2,223,471 people since March 2022. Our efforts include a wide range of support, from offering shelter and frontline aid to providing medical assistance and art therapy. Our network across the Ukraine directly puts aid into the hands of Ukrainians, especially those in rural and frontline areas. To date, we have distributed hundreds of thousands of various aid supplies with a total Fair Market Value (FMV) of $71,099,481.These supplies have been distributed across 105 international containers, which have been shipped to various refugee camps and emergency locations worldwide. Additionally, we have supported 756 refugee families in the United States by providing essential items and furnishing their apartments. Our operations are nimble enough to respond to emergencies as they arise around the world. We work with refugee-led local organizations to provide essential items like tents, heaters, water filters, blankets, power banks, food staples, and hygiene supplies. In Gaza, we also provide vital mental health services to help those suffering from depression, PTSD and anxiety. After the devastating earthquakes in Turkey, we set-up a mobile medical clinic that traveled to rural areas. Sudanese currently represent the largest displaced population in the world. We are actively finding avenues to provide aid to address this emergency crisis.
