For over 30 years, BGCN’s Community Garden has been accessible to members and families at our main Clubhouse facility on Avon Avenue. Fruits, vegetables, and herbs would be brought out from the garden into our full-service educational kitchen to be made into healthy meals for our youth. We are seeking out volunteer support in order to continue providing healthy meals and ultimately revive the positive influence of our Community Garden on the city of Newark. In past years, BGCN has been successful in to engaging parents in a meaningful way, through activities such as Family Game and Dinner Nights. With this funding, we can incorporate meals from fresh produce in our garden to share with our youth and families. Our goal is to drive our outreach component in connecting with BGCN's community through more inclusive programs and services to meet the needs of youth and families. With more Family events, such as “Family Dinner Night” and “Family Game Night” throughout the academic year, and increased parent involvement in additional programs and events, we can achieve this goal.

CALLING ALL ADVENTURERS!Emergent Productions is a nonprofit organization that's on a mission to inspire environmental awareness and inspire people to do what they can to protect our planet. With World Cleanup Day being on 9/18/2021, it's the perfect day to set an example and join in on the fun. That's where YOU come in.
We want to create a highlight video showing our volunteers participating in World Cleanup Day and picking up trash themselves, and send us videos and/or photos of your experience. Take a selfie video explaining why you're cleaning, pictures or videos of the trash you found, etc. Take a bag with you (if you have a reusable bag, that's even better) and just spend some time cleaning up. After you are done, count how many pieces of each kind of trash you found (bottles, bottle caps, bags, wrappers, etc.) - we will want to report this data in the video. There is no specific location for this volunteer event. Just make sure it is located in a natural or green space either in a forest, trail, riverbank, beach, park, etc.
- Do you love being out in nature and doing good for the world?
- Do you have fun taking pictures and/or videos?
- Do you want to inspire others to love the outdoors as much as you?
THEN WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
- Camera shy? No worries, just show us the trash you found and where you are.
HOW TO FILM!
This can be shot with your phone or camera. We just ask that you film it horizontally in landscape mode so we can use it for editing (Portrait mode is limiting and not nearly as versatile). Get Creative! This can be a selfie video saying why you are cleaning up, a video of the trash you found, any weird or unexpected trash, shots of the place you are cleaning, etc. We just want your PASSION to shine through! Make sure to count how many pieces of each kind of trash you found (bottles, cans, bags, wrappers, bottle caps, etc.) as well and report it to us (this can be in your message when sending the video/photos).
SENDING VIDEOS AND PHOTOS!
The video or photos can be sent to us using https://wetransfer.com/, which is a free site that lets you transfer files that are too large for email. Please send to info@emergentproductions.org. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We can't wait to see the adventures!
