We have a facebook page. Doesnt everyone? Maybe not. We might need an Instagram or Twitter account... We probably don't need Tinder, but you are the pro, tell us what it will take to get our hands on #vetsfarm in front of the people who want to see it. We can provide content, but getting online and managing multiple accounts is a lot of fence mending and feeding times that we'd miss. We can share pictures of Mount Rainier, our livestock, and the local elk we are working to conserve, and hope you'll post them everywhere... We, not being online savvy, and having some staffing setbacks due to covid, are looking for a Social Media Pro to work with us to develop content and deliver it to the masses. We also want to include a regular dose of solid content about our neighbors and peers in conservation, agriculture, forestry and ecological design, as well as relevant "feel good" posts- links to articles about better nutrition, relevant veterans issues, best land management practices, and WINS in our peer communities.

VETC, 501c3, is looking for an Online Donor Appreciation and Cultivation Professional who will work with us to cultivate, appreciate and report to donors about our activity. Tracking will occur across multiple online platforms including Benevity, our website donations portal and others: tracking these supporters of our cause, making sure we have their information in front of staff when it comes time for quarterly thank you cards, and cultivation of new donors through online platforms is the rounded whole of what we anticipate this position to offer. It is likely just a few hours quarterly. We are not the most terribly online savvy bunch, but with your help we can keep doing what we are good at and let you do what you "excell" at!

Every year from October to April we get many hundreds of endangered Spectacled flying foxes into care. Many are tick paralysed adults but most are the resulting orphans. We usually get between 300-500 orphans each season although it as been as great as 750. We have a lot of information on our website about volunteering opportunities.

Duke Kahanamoku was a multi-talented Olympic athlete who was known as the Father of Modern Surfing. Duke was not the first person to ever share surfing with a world audience, but he was the one who started the push to make surfing an Olympic sport a dream that came true this year. He is called, the Ambassador of Aloha, because he brought that spirit of Hawaii with him wherever he went. We will be Celebrating, Duke’s Day, his 130th birthday, on Monday, August 24th with a volunteer event and opportunity to mālama Waimea Valley. This special volunteering event is to celebrate his legacy of Aloha. The volunteer work will be in 2 shifts, one from 9am-11:30 and one from 12pm to 2:30. We are hoping to get together some wonderful people to help us clean up litter and invasive plants near our stream. We want to make a big push while the stream is low to keep rubbish from getting out into Waimea Bay and the nearby marine conservation districts. We encourage you to join in the volunteer work and show your aloha by giving back. RSVPs will be required to be part of this event as space is limited to 4 participants per shift. When you sign up, you need to let me know which shift you would like to join. All ages are welcome, but the spots are first come first serve.

This work will help to prevent trash from getting into the stream system and flowing out to the ocean. It will also help to reduce the invasive plants in these areas and protect, our very special plant collections and create space for the native plantings that we have to continue to grow.

Collect prairie seed at Story County's hidden gem, Doolittle Prairie with the Outdoor Alliance of Story County. This family-friendly seed harvest is a great opportunity to learn more about the prairie and lend a helping hand.

Volunteers need to come prepared for the weather with long pants, heavy duty walking/hiking shoes and working gloves. Bring a full water bottle. Sunscreen, insect repellent and eye protection are likely to be helpful.
