TBHRR will be at Tampa Bay Vegfest for the 6th year in a row. Our purpose in attending this event is to help expose our adoptable bunnies to the public, educate the public on proper house rabbit care, find new foster homes, when necessary, discourage people from buying or adopting a rabbit, and raise much-needed funds through sales of merchandise and receiving donations. Although rabbits are the 3rd most popular pet in the U.S., they are also one of the most misunderstood. People will often buy a bunny from a pet store or breeder on a whim, or for their kids, without taking the time to learn about rabbits' unique behaviors and needs. The rabbit ends up being neglected, or worse, dumped outside, which for an animal born and raised in captivity is usually a death sentence. We seek to help people *learn* about rabbits to prevent that from happening.

We need volunteers to help us set up and tear down our tent, tables, and bunny pens, as well as to help keep an eye on the bunnies, play with the bunnies, ensure that the bunnies have sufficient clean water, talk to people about our sale items, pet bunnies, and just generally assist as needed. Volunteers do NOT need to have prior experience or knowledge of rabbit care. We will teach you--that's what we do. If you want to learn about rabbits as a house pet, maybe to decide if one is right (or wrong) for you, then this would be a perfect opportunity for you, because we can talk to you about how they fit into a human home--both the good and the bad parts.

The event runs from 10:00AM to 5:00PM on Saturday, November 9. We will be setting up from 9:00AM to 9:30AM, and tearing down after 5:00PM. We can accept volunteers for any time frame between 9:00AM and 5:30PM.

Please note: Tampa Bay Vegfest is a vegan-only event. You do not have to be vegan to attend or help us out (not all of us are), but the organizers do not want any animal products at the event (e.g., don't bring a hamburger to eat, or wear leather). If you aren't interested in the food served at the event, there are some restaurants and fast food places nearby.

Also note: While we have added "shifts" for the event, we are very flexible with your personal schedule. We just ask that if you can volunteer, that you spend at least 3 hours helping us, and we'll shoehorn that into whatever shift best matches.

Additional note: Because we are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, your personal expenses (e.g., parking fee) and mileage (driving to/from the event) may be tax-deductible.

This golf tournament charity event is a fundraiser to benefit those family members and co-workers affected by line-of-duty death. When a police officer is killed in the line of duty, we provide grief counseling, peer support, and retreats for free for as long as they need our help. We change lives and help turn their tragedy into hope.
We are requesting volunteers to help run registration, and course games during the tournament. We need up to 10 volunteers, but will graciously accept any number of folks who want to come out and help!
Thank you so much for the consideration!
Lori Matthes

St. Mary's Ballet Folklorico is celebrating the group's 45th anniversary by putting on a one hour showcase. We are in need of volunteers to help set up; decorate the auditorium; set up and run tables with silent auction items; track and collect money for silent auction; sell and or collect tickets at the door; and to set up and run tables with merchandise to sell as well as assistance with the clean up after the performance. The purpose of the showcase is to help the group raise funds for costumes (and all the accessories that are needed), to help pay for the rental space to practice at twice per week every week, and to pay for training and conferences needed to help maintain and improve dancers' skills. Volunteers are needed because although dancers parents will be there, parents will be assisting the dancers to get ready, change during performances, and coordinate the needs of the group. Thank you for considering volunteering with our organization on such an important day.
