Our club will be working with Ashland Soil and Water Conservation District to pack tree saplings. Members of the community will then come to pick up the tree saplings and take them home to plant. This is an opportunity for the youth of our 4-H club to give back to the community in a way of service and also help restore the natural resources in our area. As a 4-h organization our pledge is to use our hands for larger service for our club, community, country, and world. This event is an outstanding way to put our pledge to work! This event is held close to Earth Day, giving us yet another way to value and realize all that our great community has to be thankful for but helping us realize what simple tasks we can do to make a difference.

3/13/20: This volunteer opportunity has been postponed to an undetermined date in the fall due to concerns and precautions involving the coronavirus COVID19 pandemic.

The mission of the Godwit Days non-profit is to bring enjoyable, educational events to our community that allow children and adults alike to explore nature and learn about birds and our natural environment. We have an incredible number of different bird species in our area which means it is important to protect local habitats. The events Godwit Days provides help to teach participants about species while having fun exploring local areas. During the festival, our venue provides a community location where people can come and learn about local programs and government agencies that help to maintain and protect the health of wildlife and our natural resources, see live birds of prey on display, and enjoy student artwork. We provide numerous events for youth that introduce them to the world of birding and nature. This is a large community event, 7 days long with our onsite location for 3 days, this will be our 25th year!

We need volunteers to help in the set up of our vendor hall and registration room. This will include organizing registration materials - carrying materials in, sorting, alphabetizing. It will also involve setting up our merchandise display - unpacking, folding, organizing. It may also include help in setting up the silent auction items. Other tasks as needed.
