At the event, volunteers comb the beaches to find, remove and record litter and debris.

By removing the debris, volunteers are making the beaches and waterways safer and more enjoyable for marine life and beach goers alike. By recording the data, volunteers contribute to a legacy of information on marine debris that has been growing for 34 years!

This information is utilized by COA to drive legislation that will stop marine debris at the source, saving our precious beaches and marine life. This event also provides a powerful take-home lesson for volunteers who might be unfamiliar with the severity of our world's marine debris problem.

In keeping with our mission of raising youth to raise communities, our youth will get together and give back to the city of Old Bridge by cleaning up designated areas in old bridge. Participants will pick up litter and categorize it into trash and recyclables. Our youth will learn how trash pollutes natural resources, clogs drains, lowers property value and is a safety hazard. This activity will be an example to our youth on how they can achieve great things in a small way. Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

7th & 8th grade girls are needing assistance with beautification project behind their classroom space. The area needs to be more functional to lend it's self to a learning environment. The students use this area as an outdoor classroom, relaxation space and a garden space for growing produce for the chickens they care for. The importance of this space is to get a sense of deeper learning by researching what seeds to plant for the chickens where the seeds came from and why it is important. Also, being a teenager in this world can be a little overwhelming and need a quite and beautiful spot to regroup and continue with your day.

Our 8-acre organic farm, located outside of Puyallup, provides over 100,000 pounds of fresh vegetables and fruits each year to local food pantries. The staff could not run the farm without volunteers of all experience levels who assist with planting, weeding, and harvesting from April to September.

This year, your help is more crucial that ever. During a typical season, the farm would be partially staffed by a volunteer cohort from the Washington Corrections Center for Women. However, the Center has suspended volunteering this year, leaving the farm critically short staffed during the busiest time of year.

Three hour long volunteer sessions are available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Large fields are ideal for safe social distancing, and we are limiting volunteer numbers, requiring masks, and sanitizing shared tools to make this a safe experience for everyone! Kids under 15 are welcome to attend with an adult!
