Opportunity Details
The Langley Environmental Partners Society, in partnership with the Glen Valley Watersheds Society, are working to develop a corporate volunteer program at Gloucester Park (NW corner of 56 Ave and 272 St) in Gloucester Industrial Park.We are inviting businesses in the industrial park to join us for volunteer events through 2025 to remove invasive plants from the park, primarily blackberries, and install native plants. Events could run weekdays during the day, or evenings when daylight allows. Opportunities for weekends are also available.
Connecting with nature through physical activity is beneficial to mental wellbeing. Volunteering with coworkers outside of work strengthens connection and enhances a sense of community in the workplace.

Position Overview
Ubuntu is seeking a Revenue-Focused Event Planner Volunteer. Your role will be instrumental in designing and executing fundraising and income-generating events that amplify our mission while supporting financial sustainability. This ideal role is for a strategic and community-minded planner who understands how to transform community gatherings into robust fundraising and partnership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Event Strategy & Design
• Co-create a calendar of signature events (e.g., benefit dinners, cultural markets, wellness festivals, branded workshops) aligned with Ubuntu’s mission and revenue goals.
• Design events that generate revenue through ticket sales, sponsorships, vendor partnerships, or fundraising activations.
Planning & Logistics
• Develop event plans including timelines, budgets, and vendor needs.
• Manage day-of logistics, registration, volunteer coordination, and post-event wrap-ups.
Revenue Generation Support
• Identify and engage mission-aligned sponsors, local businesses, or donor partners.
• Create tiered sponsorship packages or vendor opportunities for events.
• Support donor cultivation and stewardship efforts during events.
Outreach & Promotion
• Coordinate with the Ubuntu leadership team, a group of experienced professionals dedicated to our mission, to develop compelling outreach and storytelling strategies that drive attendance and support. Help design invitations, event pages, and social content using Canva, Eventbrite, or similar platforms.
Impact & Evaluation
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as attendance, revenue, donor conversions, and engagement.
• Gather participant feedback and help refine strategies for future events.
Skills & Experience
• Experience planning fundraising events, donor engagement, or community-based earned income experiences.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple moving parts and deadlines.
• Creative problem-solving and a collaborative spirit.
• Confidence in engaging partners, donors, or sponsors.
• Familiarity with CRM tools, event tech (Eventbrite, Zoom, etc.), or design platforms is a plus.
• Deep alignment with Ubuntu’s equity, joy, collaboration, and sustainability values.

Academia EcoHabilidades es un programa de formación que busca fortalecer las capacidades de 130 jóvenes entre 18 y 28 años en los municipios de Zipaquirá, Facatativá y Pacho (Cundinamarca), mediante un proceso híbrido de 50 horas de capacitación en sostenibilidad, empleabilidad y emprendimiento verde. Los participantes reciben formación teórico-práctica en agricultura regenerativa, uso de energías renovables, liderazgo, salud mental y modelos de negocio sostenibles. Esta iniciativa surge como una respuesta concreta a problemáticas estructurales como el desempleo juvenil rural, la degradación ambiental y la falta de oportunidades de formación técnica con enfoque sostenible. El programa promueve la inserción laboral en sectores verdes y el desarrollo de iniciativas productivas con impacto positivo en los territorios, fortaleciendo el rol de los jóvenes como agentes de cambio. Estamos en búsqueda de nuevos aliados que contribuyan al financiamiento del proyecto y que permitan su ampliación y replicabilidad en otros territorios.
