This event is a fundraiser to support the Domestic Violence Program at the YWCA of Genesee County. We need volunteers who will help set-up the vendors, help serve the vendors lunch, sell wrist bands for the five bounce houses, sell 50/50 Raffle Tickets, help with children's games, and help pack-up the vendors at the end of the event! Volunteers can also help us with clean-up! The hours would be from 7:30 am until 6:00 pm, on Sunday, June 9th, at Batavia Downs. It is a rewarding experience and we have a lot of fun helping to make the event a success! Last year we had over 3,900 people visit the event!

Opportunity Details

We are currently looking for photographers on an on-call basis in the various programs in Vancouver, Coquitlam and Surrey to shoot photography for events and shoot portraits for mothers and their children.



Qualifications

This position requires a person who has a passion for, and expertise in photography and in particular taking impactful photos of children and other YWCA Metro Vancouver clients. The photographer will assist the organization to build a photo library for use in promotional material and for the YWCA Metro Vancouver website. We will welcome photographers who can shoot in Coquitam and Surrey for our single mothers' housing programs.

Requirements:
• Flexible and able to volunteer at various events
• Able to communicate effectively with participants
• Able to capture the emotion of children and others
• An eye for composition of background/participant
• Can provide high-resolution photography in digital format
• Willing to grant permission for photos to be used by YWCA Vancouver in communication and marketing activities
• Commitment to ensuring all participants give written consent to having photos taken

YWCA JUMP Scarborough is seeking volunteers to lead an interview skills workshop for newcomer women who are interested in working in the financial sector.

Responsibilities: Volunteers will share their own experience finding work, discuss current opportunities within the financial sector, and offer valuable interview tips and tricks. Volunteers will review the standard types of questions that participants may be asked during an interview and help participants construct effective responses using appropriate language.

Program Details: JUMP Scarborough is an exciting program for newcomer women and girls over the age of 13, who are permanent residents, convention refugees or live-in caregivers with temporary work permits. The program helps women and girls explore career options, build skills, search for jobs, and integrate into Canadian society.

Benefits of Volunteering: This event will provide volunteers with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of newcomer women who are very interested in pursuing a career within the financial sector.

Living in a cabin with a group of nine other campers and two counselors you quickly learn these values are more than just words and lead to a more harmonious cabin. Our staff of dedicated young Christian men and women are living examples of the Y mission. Campers learn new life skills, develop friendships and grow in self-esteem and confidence. The joy and composure they gain at camp stays with them long after they return home.
Throughout the year we have many opportunities for clean up & refreshing the camp days. Special projects are also available.

Opportunity Details

YWCA Toronto Employment Centre is seeking volunteers to place flyers throughout the community to help create a greater awareness of the centre’s programs and services.

If possible, volunteers should sign up in groups of 2 or 3. Ideally, each group will have access to a vehicle.

Program Details: YWCA Toronto's Employment Centre offers free services that help women, men and youth prepare for employment. The centre offers comprehensive employment and job search services such as: assessment of skills, interests and experience; job search strategies, including resume preparation; links to job placements and internships; workshop and training; free child-minding; and help in maintaining employment.
