The OrganizationSeattle-based nonprofit XBOT Robotics inspires and prepares students in traditionally underserved communities to pursue STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning and careers through mentored robotics competitions and hands-on projects. We have a 20-year history of providing students with free or low-cost opportunities to have fun while developing skills and gaining experiences they can use to secure summer internships, college admissions, and ultimately well-paying jobs in STEAM disciplines. Our programs typically engage approximately 800 students per year, and our goal is to engage 1800 students per year by the school year 2024-25.
The Position and Responsibilities
We are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer for Marketing and Communications Management for our small, primarily volunteer-powered organization. As a volunteer for Marketing and Communications, your tasks would include some or all of the following, subject to your availability:
• Manage marketing and communications strategies to highlight the XBOT Robotics
brand and impact;
• Manage digital channels including website, blog, and social media to promote our
programs, fundraising, volunteer, and advocacy efforts
• Create and edit content including messaging, photos, videos, and other digital/print
assets;
• Work closely with Executive Director and collaborate across teams to develop and
execute strategies to grow subscribers/followers, readership, and overall engagement
• Develop plans for special events including recruiting, selecting, and preparing internal
and external speakers; writing and editing scripts and talking points; producing and
managing videos
• Develop all content through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion; amplify a wide
range of voices that represent the communities we serve, and work to create a sense
of belonging across all marketing and communications platforms
• Manage and analyze reports on the effectiveness of marketing and communications
strategies; track website, social media, blogs, and e-marketing analytics; make
recommendations as appropriate; stay abreast of trends and make recommendations
as appropriate
Qualifications
• Experience in marketing/communications and/or public relations
• Excellent communications skills – including writing, editing and proofreading skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across the organization
and with diverse internal and external stakeholders; and ability to communicate
clearly and effectively
• Experience in a nonprofit is desired but not required
• Meet background check, youth protection training, and proof of vaccination
requirements expected of all individuals who meet with students and educators in
Seattle Public Schools.

-Anh Phuong: She is in her last year of college, lives with parents and siblings. Mom has tumors and not able to work. Family has been struggling financially due to mom's healthcare bills.
-Thu Thuy: She is a freshman in college, lives with parents. Mom has a heart condition for 12 years now and hasn't been working. The whole family is dependent on dad's construction job.
-Minh Y: She is currently in 9th grade. She lives with her grandparents; her dad had surgery and hasn't worked for 4 years. Grandparents are older and not able to work to support.
-Thanh Nam: He is in 12th grade, lives with his mom. The two of them are living off of mom's monthly income of about $80.
-Ngoc Lien: She is in 12th grade, lives with parents and 2 siblings. Parents are having a hard time supporting education for all 3 kids.
-Duc Thinh: He is in 12th grade, lives with mom, grandparents, and cousin. Mom is the only one working and supporting everyone in the household.
EMEA/APAC Teams: This organization is US centric, however, you could still write the letter to VIET Foundation and track your time to a nonprofit organization that is near and dear to you in your region.
