Join Story Seeds and Make a Difference!

At Story Seeds, we believe in planting the seeds of knowledge and nurturing young minds to help them thrive. Whether you’re looking for a regular commitment or a one-time engagement, there’s a way for everyone to get involved!

What You Can Expect as a Volunteer:
Recurring Activities:

Your involvement in these recurring activities will allow you to play a hands-on role in shaping how education is delivered, while making a lasting difference in the lives of young learners.

One-Off Activities:
If you’re looking for shorter-term opportunities, we also have impactful one-time activities for you to join, such as:

- Assisting with Pre-Tests and Post-Tests: Help administer assessments that gauge student progress and provide invaluable insights into their development.
- Supporting Graduation Events: Celebrate milestones with our students and their families during special graduation ceremonies.
- Parent Meetings: Join us during the start of the school year to connect with parents and share insights about their children’s learning journey.

Why Volunteer with Story Seeds?
By volunteering with us, you won’t just be helping students—you’ll also be part of a movement to inspire educational change. Your time, energy, and passion will help to shape young minds and contribute to broader systemic improvements in education. Whether you’re a teacher, a parent, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, there’s a place for you at Story Seeds.

Volunteers needed to help with homework, reading out loud with students, helping with math and extra math, ages 8-18.
1. Floating - Helping with any and all subjects, moving around each room, a good way to establish and build tutor-relationships with students
a. Asking what students are working on, rather than asking if they need help
b. Checking Google Classroom assignments
c. Revising and completing Late Work
2. Math Tutoring - 1 on 1, 30 min. session with a middle school student who needs help with homework, studying, or reviewing

Volunteers usually start with 1 day a week, from 3:30-5:30 and are needed on a weekly basis from September – June, between Monday and Thursday. We follow the Danbury Public School calendar except when we have field trips planned on national holidays. Our students do not come in on snow days. We can work with your schedule and be as flexible as needed, but it would be ideal to choose the same day each week to volunteer.

Our Main Goal: DGA’s outreach is fueled by the help of volunteers. We want to make volunteers feel valued and productive. If a volunteer is sitting around, we are not making the most of the resource we have available. Finding and inventing tasks for volunteers creates a fulfilling experience for them, which increases overall retention.
