This service takes a great deal of volunteer support, therefore our Food Bank is always in need of volunteers to help meet the need. Volunteers will help with a variety of tasks that may include setting up the packing area, filling bags for food delivery, putting away food donations, and breaking down boxes for recycling.Volunteers are asked to dress in layers of comfy clothes that can get dirty. Work is done mostly outside, in any weather, and temperatures vary. Bring a water bottle and a face mask. Masks are required when working indoors and volunteers should be vaccinated against covid-19.
Central Area Food Bank distributes food weekly to residents in YWCA emergency shelter and transitional housing, as well as low-income families throughout the community. #Give2025

Women and families come into our programs needing the most basic items. We rely on the community for donations of personal care items to create toiletry, hygiene, and warming kits to give to families and individuals in our programs. #Give2025How to Collect and Assemble Hygiene Kits for the YWCA:
1. Sign up and we’ll contact you to confirm and give you more information about the toiletry and hygiene items we accept and examples of what kits can include.
2. Your team purchases the items you'd like to include in your hygiene kits.
3. Host a packing party for your group to assemble your kits and even write encouraging cards or notes to include inside the kits for their recipients. A YWCA staff can come onsite to facilitate this and present your group with more info on YWCA and our programming.
4. Contact us to let us know when you can drop off your items. Our offices are open Monday through Friday 9:30 AM—5:00 PM. Please contact us before you drop off. We have carts to help you unload.

YWCA's Fill A Home with Hope provides the basics for families who have fled domestic violence and are in need of a fresh start. We invite BMO to help outfit one apartment with kitchen items, bedroom decor, bath towels, cleaning supplies, and more. It's a project that can be done by one person, or a business. Imagine the joy when a struggling family - one that has survived abuse and left everything behind - arrives to a fully-furnished home!
Outfitting a 1-bedroom apartment cost about $1050; 2-bedroom about $1285; 3-bedroom about $1550; and 4-bedroom $1750.
An investment in our work means that when an unhoused woman walks through our doors - tired, out of options, maybe even out of hope - there is more than kind words waiting for her.
There is a plan. An advocate who listens. A path toward stability and safe housing.
We don't just offer temporary relief - we help her take back control of her future.
